RoCM Playlist Halloween Edition: 28 Oct 2023
So welcome to the annual Halloween edition of The Return of CoolMojo – and while we do deviate a bit from the standard repertoire of the show, it’s a fun show to put together. Tis the season…
One of my favorite tunes from this show is “Jack the Ripper” by Screaming Lord Sutch. Screaming Lord Sutch was an eccentric British singer who only released a handful of albums – one of which featured Noel Redding, Jimmy Page, John Bonham, and Jeff Beck. But he’s most famously known for his “Jack the Ripper” character which was very much an early precursor to the more flamboyant gothic performances of folks like Alice Cooper, Gwar, Marilyn Manson, and others. Here he is performing the song live in 1964:
