RoCM Playlist: 06 April 2024
Good news if you’re fan of The Return of CoolMojo – The Return of CoolMojo is sticking where it is for the Spring 2024 KCSB-FM programming quarter – Saturdays at 4pm PDT. Here’s to another quarter!
A few weeks ago, I was in the audience for a panel discussion on the legacy of Alice Coltrane – one of the panelists being Michelle Coltrane, daughter of John and Alice. It was a very interesting discussion that included her music, spirituality, and the reasons they moved to Long Island. It also included a viewing of a documentary on Alice Coltrane. It’s a short but fascinating film that includes footage from their Long Island home and as well as footage from a performance in Glen Cove. You can view it here:
It’s about 17 minutes long and well worth your time. This was conjunction with the re-release of the album, The Carnegie Hall Concert – which is featured on the RoCM this week. Along side that, we have two birthdays – Horace Tapscott (born April 6, 1934) and Noah Howard (born April 6, 1943) – with some other stellar tracks thrown in as well.
And with that, here is the playlist for this week. Don’t forget that you can listen online at KCSB-FM’s website and there’s an online archive available for two weeks after the show airs.
