RoCM Playlist: 08 Nov 2024 (RE-AIR)

Given the results of Tuesday, I really don’t think I had it in me to get a new show out the door. But to top things off, I had a major hardware failure on my home server this week. Yeah, when it toxic rains, it toxic pours.

So to top off this stellar week – I run a bunch of VMs on Proxmox at home for various services – Nextcloud, kid’s Minecraft server, music server, etc – and the motherboard on that server just bombed out. Not the worst thing to happen in context, but still…

Today is a re-air of the July 27th program. I am hoping to have a new show next week.

I don’t have a lot to say about Tuesday other than I am still kind of in a haze about it and for the first time in a very long time, if ever, I am not sure what any of it means – for our LGBTQIA+ friends, for our immigrant friends, for our local community as a whole. I certainly don’t see it meaning anything good. I don’t know… I think the main shock is that I really, truly believed that we were better than this – so the new reality is one that will take some getting used to. I will admit, part of this feeling is coming to terms with the naivete being this wrong about your country. As Jamelle Bouie so eloquently put it:

i really thought this country would say no. instead, it shouted yes

I’ve spent a lot of time hugging my family lately.

On a more positive note, I’ve learned how to embed BlueSky posts.

Here is the playlist. Don’t forget that you can listen to the RoCM online at KCSB-FM’s website and there’s an online archive available for two weeks after the show airs.
