RoCM Playlist: 12 Oct 2024
The first program of the Fall 2024 KCSB programming schedule. We are taking a break from the birthday tributes to go back to normal jazz programming. Last week we did a tribute to Bill Dixon and this week we are featuring a track from an album he produced by the Marzette Watts Ensemble. Additionally, there a great track from the Sonic Liberation Front that features Sunny Murray. Also some music from the late Mars Williams and tracks by George Adams and the often featured Reggie Workman with the latter leading his own group on the track.
On a personal note, last night I went to a show at our local venue here in Huntington called the Paramount which featured Social Distortion. Nothing against Social Distortion, but I was far more excited to see the opening act, The BellRays. If you have never seen them, I cannot recommend them enough. An absolutely amazing band and very much worth the price of admission.
Anyway… don’t forget that you can listen to the RoCM online at KCSB-FM’s website and there’s an online archive available for two weeks after the show airs.
